Abstract

The domestic context is particularly important for the promotion of the child's cognitive, linguistic and emotional development. Early exposure to reading aloud practices, the benefits of which are largely documented by scientific evidence, acquires a significant value when mediated by significant adults.

This study presents a review of the literature on the benefits of shared reading within the family environment in terms of the skills development that this practice supports, as well as on the strengthening of attachment and the structuring of family routines, with a focus on the parent-child interactions that support reading. The study also focuses on the indicators that are the basis for the implementation – or, on the contrary, the absence – of this practice within the domestic context.
