Abstract
Globalization, modernization and the last crisis of the end of the millennium have produced new meanings and complex processes such as the emerging knowledge economy. The effects in terms of economic changes were not the declared equality of opportunity, but rather inequality and poverty. The role of education in the face of these pedagogical emergencies must read contextual situations and propose new and unprecedented solutions. The purpose of this article is to draw a general picture of the situation in the context in terms of ethnic relations and protection of minorities and, moreover, to focus attention on the dynamics of exclusion and gender discrimination.
