Ethical issues in research with youth and adults in education: insights from creative and visual methodologies.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Beginning with the analysis of different research experiences conducted with people belonging to minoritized or socially vulnerable groups, I intend to explore some ethical issues noted in educational research with youth and adults particularly in the use of creative methods, from the data collection stage to its dissemination. The creative methodologies I will consider are humorous writing and its translation into comic strips, photo-voice, and finally, photo elicitation.
In fact, each of the researches considered allows us to highlight some ethical cores of direct interest for creative methodologies, such as, for example, the legitimacy, content, and shared or unshared meanings in reference to humor and its use in the representation of who is (considered) 'other' as well as the reflexive process that ensues for of those doing the research; the public display and dissemination of products that in contributing relevant content can be important accounts of biographical experiences, in some cases sensitive; the recognition of authorship and ownership and the issue of archiving products.
