The Gender Equality Index of the EIGE: the instrument that measures equality between women and men in Europe
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents a brief critique of a recent-ly published (2013) instrument, the Gender Equality Index, which is a statistic formula to measure gender-equality in the members-state of the European Union. The Gender Equality Index was commissioned by the EU to the Eu-ropean Institute for Gender Equality; using the Index the EIGE issued a report, which is avai-lable online and gives both the overall results for the European Union and each single EU member state.
