Abstract

In the scope of teacher education, the training of vocational teachers plays a special role and has a specific interest. Skilled and trained teachers, in fact, are a fundamental prerequisite for effective vocational education, which is central to a country’s economic prosperity and its social welfare. Improving the training of vocational teachers also means enabling the entire education and training system to function better, also in terms of lifelong learning. In this paper, the authors aim to provide an overview of governance in vocational teacher education in Italy, Germany and Austria, partners in “PAGOSTE”, an Erasmus+ project aimed at improving Ukrainian vocational teacher education starting from the experiences and evidence of the three European countries.
