Abstract

This study presents a statistical analysis of implicit school dropout data in line with the provisions of the PRIN 2022 project XXX. The aim is to highlight the territorial differences of the phenomenon at the national and local levels starting from the data available and published by Eurostat, Istat, the Ministry of Education and Merit, and the Regional School Office of Campania. The investigations focused mainly on lower secondary schools, specifically regarding Class III. The results indicate a significant gap between the northern and southern regions, with the latter in worse conditions. Focusing on Campania, it is noted that the municipalities of the provinces of Naples and Caserta have the lowest performances. In line with the project objectives, a linear regression model is also presented to trace the factors determining the transition between primary and lower secondary school. The data obtained provide some critical issues that confirm the need for early and preventive training intervention.
