Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present the practices currently in place at Scuola-Città Pestalozzi in Florence for the recruitment and support of new teachers. Scuola-Città Pestalozzi is an experimental institution according to the D.M. of March 10, 2006, with an extraordinary statute. The experimental decree defines, in addition to educational activities, research activities aimed at the renewal of the national school system. To achieve the goals set, experimental schools can select teaching staff through a public call for applications, where the evaluation of candidates through their curriculum and interview is entrusted to the peer community, and therefore to colleagues already working at Scuola-Città Pestalozzi.Recruitment is only the beginning of the initial and ongoing training and evaluation process that the school implements with the aim of allowing individual professional development that is shared and followed by the entire community. This training process is self-evaluated and evaluated by peers, taking into account the coherence of the individual teacher's growth path and that traced by the school through the professional pact of Scuola-Città Pestalozzi. The contribution aims to present the practices and tools used in the process of support, evaluation, and self-evaluation of new teachers, with particular attention to transferability and good professional practice components.
